The Real Importance Of Guru Purnima: A Special Day For True Seekers

Guru Purnima Celebration

Guru Purnima

I have been told to write something on Guru Purnima. What to say about this day?

You can get so many information about it such as Guru Purnima Facts, Guru Purnima Definitions, Story On Guru Purnima, Guru Purnima Prayers and so many others on the net. But what I am going to write here is as per my views.

The fact is that this day is already a tradition which had been followed continuously years after years. I don't know who has invented this day to be celebrated but it is important for you to know why it should be celebrated and who should celebrate it.

Why Do You Need A Guru?

Guru

The fact is that in life, you have to learn a lot of things in order to progress further and grow from within too.

Learning has become a must because every moment there is a change happening and if you want to go with the flow of changes, then you should continue on learning. The things that you learned before may not apply in the modern life that you are living.

So, this is why you have to go with the flow of changes and accept and learn new things. While being in the flow, so many Gurus you will meet with and you will learn a lot from them too.

Without them, you won't be able to progress further and that's why a Guru is very important for everyone.

Where To Meditate?

Many seekers are confused. They want to know where they can meditate peacefully. They have different things going on in their minds.

Meditation

For example, before seekers used go to meditate under the mountains, near rivers, even in caves. This was their ways of meditating because then only this idea came to them but nowadays you can't do like them.

In fact, when you go in a place where there is nobody and that place is peaceful then you won't be able to learn that much about the inner mysteries and about life too. It will take you longer time to be transformed from within.

This is because if you want to live the modern life and meditate at the same time, then you will have to go with the flow of this change. As you know, people are busier nowadays compared to ancient times and due to this you won't have enough time to go to a place where it is peaceful in order to meditate.

The fact is that you can't choose that option because then you will have to leave your work, your parents and your family too. This way, you will be running away from your outer life responsibilities.

What you should do is fulfil your responsibilities and at the same time meditate and this you can do it at home itself. Create a place at home where you will not be disturbed and then meditate.

What you need is no disturbance. As long as sounds are concerned, if you give your total concentration on whatever meditation technique you are practising, then you will not hear the outer sounds. Once you have left your meditation technique and you have transited into an inner state, then you won't even feel your physical body or what is happening on the outer level.

So, as you can see, it's not necessary that you have to go elsewhere to meditate as you can do it at home itself. You can even do it anywhere, even at work, university or anywhere else depending upon the technique you are practising.

One thing you must also take into consideration is that this is the best place to meditate when you are in the modern world rather than going to meditate under a mountain or any other place where there is nobody.

This is because then you won't be able to know what inner transformation has happened in you. Now, as you are facing several problems and meeting several people, you are able to know the level of your Awareness. It's only when a situation arises that you come to know if you have had an inner transformation or not.

So, in forest or under the mountains, you won't come across these situations which will make you realize your inner transformations.

The fact is that those who take this as a pretext that they can't meditate at home or anywhere they are, know that you are lying to yourself and not only that, you are also fooling yourself. Don't say that you need to go to a retreat or to a place like caves or under a mountain in order that you can meditate.

This is because meditation cannot happen when you practise it once in a while. Meditation has to happen momentarily and wherever you are. So, don't fool yourself in saying that you have to take leave from work in order to meditate because meditation can happen anywhere.

Who Is A Guru?

Guru

Well, the fact is that everyone is a Guru. It may sounds weird to you but it is the truth only. I am going to explain to you why I am saying so.

  • When you start your life, your parents help you in growing up. So, here your parents are your Guru.
  • You are watching a movie and you get inspired by certain dialogues or scenes. The ones who created that dialogues or scenes are your Guru.
  • When you go to school, your teachers enlighten you on several subjects. Here, your teachers are your Guru.
  • When you go to school, you get many friends and some of them help you in a way or the other. So, here also your friends are your Guru.
  • When you go to work, your Head or Supervisor train you and help you. Here, they are your Guru.
  • At work, you have colleagues who help you with some of your work or advice. Here, they are your Guru.
  • You are travelling and you see someone doing something which is inspiring. Here that person is your Guru.
  • You get married and your wife or husband helps you in different ways. Here, he or she is your Guru.
  • At home, your children enlighten you on something you didn't know before. This means you learn from them and here, they are your Guru.
  • When you are sitting in your garden and you observe the action of a bird. Its action inspires you and here that bird is your Guru.
  • When you are in a problem and your neighbour comes to your help. Here, your neighbour is your Guru.
  • You are travelling by bus or train and someone who is sitting next to you helps you in a certain way. Then, that person is your Guru.
  • You don't know how to cook a dish and you go and find out the recipe on the net. The one who has written that recipe is your Guru.
  • When you feel that you need enlightenment about how to live life rightly, then you go to someone who can help you with that. Then too, that person is your Guru.
So, as you can see, anyone can be your Guru. This means anyone who helps you in learning something or in anything else is your Guru.

This way, you have so many Gurus and you must be grateful to them.

Life

Who Should Celebrate Guru Purnima?

As you know Guru Purnima is celebrated in many countries and it comes only once a year. It is same as your birthday comes only once a year. I don't know how they come to know which date they should fix for Guru Purnima but it is a special day for many.

You will find a lot of students showing their gratitude to their teachers. You will also find many greetings and wishes going on. There will even be great celebration and prayers.

This way, everyone should celebrate it and be grateful for everyone who helped them. It is not necessarily that only the teachers or Spiritual Guides must be targeted for this occasion. Celebrate it with the ones you realized who ever helped you in life.

Guru Purnima For Enlightened Beings

There are many seekers who celebrate Guru Purnima for showing their gratitude to the Enlightened Beings who have enlightened their life.

Awareness

They celebrate it for both, those Enlightened Beings who are no more in the physical bodies now and also for those who are still alive. There are prayers and ceremonies going on on that day but the truth is that it is not celebrated the real way.

You will find lots of decorations everywhere. Pamphlets or posters being distributed to invite the public in general for a get together for some rituals on that day. So much energy, time and money is wasted.

The fact is that you will find a crowd attending those rituals but not everyone will be blessed. This is because the real seekers are not found in that crowd.

Know that the Enlightened Beings are not there for the crowd. They are there for real seekers only. Although they bless everyone, not everyone knows their importance and absorb their blessings the right way. This is why only real seekers are really blessed

You will never see these real seekers in any rituals or ceremonies. These real seekers are the ones who are very busy working on themselves in order to prepare the greatest gift for their Ultimate Guru who are the Enlightened Beings.

This greatest gift is of eliminating their ego. They are grateful to whatever teachings they had got from their Ultimate Guru. They are also grateful for the overflowing Blessings that they got and are continuously getting from their Ultimate Guru.

I am saying Ultimate Guru here because when you say 'Guru' it means everyone. An Enlightened Being is not everyone. An Enlightened Being is different from everyone although he or she is seen to be a human being same as others. The inner transformation in him or her is not seen but can be absorbed only.

So, these real seekers must go on working hard in increasing their awareness level in order that their ego be eliminated the soonest possible.

When Is Guru Purnima For The Real Enlightened Being?

Guru Purnima for an Enlightened Being must be only when his or her student has been able to pass his or her examinations.

Seekers

It is only when the seeker has been able to eliminate his or her ego permanently, then is the celebration of Guru Purnima for the Real Enlightened Being. Then, both the Enlightened Being and the seeker who is no more a seeker now celebrate together.

What Is Enlightenment?

When Enlightenment happens to a seeker, then he or she is no more a seeker. The seeker has become the Master. Now, on, he or she will have to work in more depth. There is no need of the Ultimate Guru here.

What Is Enlightenment?

As I said in my eBooks and other articles, Enlightenment is the first Realization only on the path to Supreme Awareness State.

So, once Enlightenment happens to someone, he or she becomes the Master but still more realizations have to happen which are more into depth. Here, he or she doesn't need any Guru rather he or she can manage alone.

For those who haven't read my articles or eBooks, you may not know what Enlightenment means in reality.

Well, Enlightenment is the State where there is No Thoughts and No Emotions and that also permanently. One has left the mind behind and is now in a deeper journey.
