To be honest for many is very difficult and this is because of fear. You have nourished fear since childhood and you go on nourishing it on and on. Know that the more you dwell in fear, the greater you suffer.
Honesty will teach you how to be fearless. You may find that you are hurting others by being honest and due to that you don't want to say the truth. But the fact is that if you are not being honest, you will hurt yourself. I am not saying that you have to say everything to others. In fact, whatever you have to say, say it honestly.
If you go on being dishonest, you will not be yourself. You will be like an imitator. In the fear of hurting someone's else ego makes you go far from yourself. You go on making the other person happy with your lies. Here, you are letting your ego master you and you are also bringing happiness to the ego of the other person.
Know that you are not here to make others happy. How can you make them happy when you yourself does not know what happiness is?
